Thank goodness for free wifi at SFO!
I'm sitting outside the gate with some friends from Santa Clara. It's so funny the overlap of stories (e.g. sleeping 2 hours the night before, battling with baggage weight limits, parents crying/sad as we leave , etc) The excitement is definitely hitting me now, not so much homesickness. I wish I could just snap my fingers and be in Barcelona because I dread long flights. Oh well.
While I was going through security, my mom followed me through the line until she could non longer see me (there's a clear glass wall separating the security section from the check in area). She kept waving and making funny faces. In fact, the guy in line in front of me asked if I was going away from home for the first time. "Nope" I replied, "just studying abroad in Barcelona." My mom had also kindly packed me a lunch (which I was really looking forward to) and we forgot at it home. So, I bought a vegetarian burrito
Well, they just called my group number and I must board. I fly to JFK, have a layover there, then fly into Barcelona. I arrive there Thursday at 10 am. I hope jetlag isn't too bad. I have wifi at my homestay (yay!) so I'll blog as soon as I arrive (if I am awake that is)
Alexis! I miss you already! I know what you mean when you said you wish you could just snap your fingers and arrive at your destination. I always wish that when I fly. But as long as you make sure not to sit by a guy that will sleep like a log the whole time, preventing you from using the bathroom (like that old guy on our flight to England), you'll be fine. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to hear more about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteHaha, your mom is the best. I hope you're having a good flight with friedly flight attendants and pillows and at least semi-edible airplane food! Miss you!
